The set of five photos that follow were amongst a number of photos done professionally for the production of a "recruitment" brochure in 1951.
The Juniors were offered the opportunity to get copies of various photos.
The photo of the chapel must have been taken around the Feast of St Joseph.
The last photo of the Log Cabin was not in this "recruitment" set.

The Chapel - highly decorated for some special occasion. Br Brian McGrath  (Drusilla 48), and John Hopgood  (Drusilla 48) were reknowed for producing such spectacular displays.

For those who had completed a further twelve months of training, they took their first vows of poverty, chastity and obedience according to the rules and constitutions of the Marist Order.

..
Editor's note: Those who were at Mittagong 1954 -56 would remember these great guys.
..

John Tura (Br Raphael) died recently. He and his Solomon Islander classmates: Malachi Sukuatu and Benedito Laumanasa did their Juniorate at Bowral, and Novitiate at Mittagong in mid fifties. John taught at various schools in Bougainville and the Solomons. He left the Brothers in the 1970s and taught in government schools. He also became a member of the Guadalcanal Provincial government for a time. Those who knew him in Mittagong times remember him for his exuberance [and a tough competitor in a game of hockey].
