July 2ndTraditionally July 2nd, the feast of the Visitation, was a day of celebration and ceremonial.
For those who had completed the first six months training in the Novitiate, they received the religious habit of the Marist Order and their religious name.
For those who had completed a further twelve months of training, they took their first vows of poverty, chastity and obedience according to the rules and constitutions of the Marist Order.

This team was coached by Br Terry Gleeson (RIP) and won all three games contested: 15 goals 14 points versus Geelong school 5 - 15; 8 - 17 versus Marist Kyneton 4 - 2; 10 - 9 versus Marist Bendigo 6 - 8.

In 1954..... Br Augustine (Leo Hurley RIP) coached the First XVIII. This team beat Marist Brunswick 14 - 12 to 4 - 5; Assumption 2nd's 17 - 22 to 2 - 5. As a result of this fine win against Assumption 2nd's, they challenged Assumption First XVIII and were beaten by only 7 points: scores 5 - 14 to 5 - 7.
